Museo dell'Ara Pacis

The spaces of the museum designed by Richard Meier, are modulated on contrasting light and shadow. Particularly attached to this effect, they are the first two parts of the building: after a twilight zone, the access tunnel, you go to the central pavilion housing the Ara Pacis in full natural light filtered through 500 square meters of crystals; these, creates an uninterrupted continuity with the outside world, promote the silence necessary for the full enjoyment of the monument.

In the quiet sound insulation you can appreciate the calm rhythms of the decorative motifs; assist to the procession passing along the sides of the Altar fence, made by the highest priests of the Augustan age and of members of the imperial family, led by Augustus himself; revisit the founding myths of Rome and the Augustan glory that brought the empire the time to live so happy to be called seculum aureum.
