Palazzo Besta is located in the ancient village of Teglio, hence the name Valtellina. It 'a splendid Renaissance mansion, built by the noble family Besta on pre-existing medieval buildings from the mid-fifteenth century by Azzo I, following the model of the palaces of the great lords of the time. It was completed by the latter's son, Azzo II, who with his wife Agnese Quadrio gave you a small courtyard, where they agreed artists, writers and philosophers.

In the eighteenth century the complex became the property of the Morelli family, who built two valuable wooden stue, also called winter salt. During the nineteenth century the building was divided among several owners and used as a dwelling of peasants and agricultural storage. In 1913-1914, after long years of neglect and abandonment, through the efforts of several personalities of the culture, it was bought by the Italian State and under the wise guidance of Luigi Perrone began major restoration work, which was completed in 1927. Besta Palace became the beautiful house-museum that you can visit today.
