The small Museum of Petrology and Mineralogy was established by the Franciscan friar Padre Felice Rossetti, (native of Grotte Santo Stefano) which, in the last years of his life he tried to enhance the country with a series of initiatives. Inside the small museum contains a fair amount of rocks and minerals and a variety of fossils, from many parts of the world and by the territory of Tuscia. The museum also houses an art gallery of contemporary art, a library and a number of objects related to the history of Grotte Santo Stefano. As of July 2012, the museum is managed in collaboration with the City of Viterbo by the local cultural association Ecomuseum of Tuscia which apart from the usability of the site, is also involved in the enrichment of collections and promotion, organizing within the museum events of various kinds. In fact, because of its location within the premises of the building of the former City of Grotte Santo Stefano, the museum is one of the few spaces available to the public for purposes useful to the community but also to set up impromptu exhibitions of various kinds both private citizens of other associations, requiring the use to the association that runs it and making arrangements with the same.
