Museo Pietraia dei Poeti

The Museum Pietraia of Poets, perched atop a hill overlooking San Benedetto del Tronto, in Barattelle district, a few kilometers from town. It is part of the land owned by the sculptor Marcello Sgattoni living there as well as taking care of even agricultural activities Art. La Pietraia is a pristine piece of land of about two hundred meters wide long on average winds that decades ago was occupied by a vineyard of which remain to remember some feral vines along the fence. It is an extension pebble parched by the sun in the summer, often attended by the wind, where she grew a pine forest at the top, around an old blanket tank now used as a warehouse. The sculptor Sgattoni several years ago began to have on this surface many of his creations, some monumental, which are integrated naturally with the surrounding environment exalting, because consist of materials derived from the territory itself as tree trunks and rocks. From there was born the idea to make of that area of ​​land a permanent exhibition of his sculptures place, accessible to all people, including the disabled. It started so hard and devoted work by the Master and numerous volunteers collaborators involved in setting up the museum that was officially opened to the public in August 2006. The route is also accessible to blind and visually impaired through rope guides or wooden floor and descriptions in Braille or Mp3. It was also set up a website equally accessible to blind people to illustrate the Museum and the events connected to it. In December 2006 he founded the Foundation Pietraia of Poets, whose intent is primarily to support the work of Marcello Sgattoni, to maintain the unit in the place where she was born, to disseminate knowledge.
