Staatliches Museum Schwerin / Ludwigslust / Güstrow

The State Museum Schwerin / Ludwigslust / Güstrow includes the gallery Alte and Neue Meister in Schwerin and the former residence castles of the Mecklenburg princely house in Schwerin, Güstrow and Ludwigslust.

THE GALLERY OLD & NEW MASTER SCHWERIN The gallery, located directly on Lake Schwerin, is known for the top collection of Dutch and Flemish painting of the 17th and 18th centuries, the Ernst Barlach Foundation Bölkow and the Schwerin Collection Marcel Duchamp. Changing special exhibitions of old and contemporary art complete the exhibition.

SCHWERIN CASTLE The most important castle of the romantic historicism, castle Schwerin, enchanted by its insular position and the unique architecture. In the State Rooms of the Festival and Beletages are paintings, furniture and handicrafts of the 19th century. Precious porcelain from Meissen and Berlin decorate the former ducal nursery.

CASTLE LUDWIGSLUST The baroque palace Ludwigslust is the center of a baroque city complex with one of the most beautiful gardens of the garden architect Peter Joseph Lenné. The extensive collections include courtly art and home decor of the 18th and early 19th centuries: paintings, furniture, miniatures and gilded papier mâché decorations.

CASTLE GÜSTROW Schloss Güstrow is regarded as an outstanding example of European residence architecture and offers a tour through art from the Middle Ages to the present day. The reconstructed after historic engravings garden promises refreshment between fragrant lavender beds on quiet moats.
