Hi, we are Simon and Annie Greenlay. We first saw Urquhart Bay cottage in 2014 and fell in love with it. We knew immediately that we wanted to live in this peaceful cottage with its beautiful views over Loch Ness. The cottage is ideally situated close to the beautiful village of Drumnadrochit and a very short walk from the iconic Urqhuhart Castle. It sits in its own extensive gardens offering stunning views of Loch Ness to the East and Glen Urquhart to the North. Working with local craftsmen we have extensively renovated the building and interior rooms to retain the charm of the original while at the same time introducing the best modern comforts. We have called on the extensive experience we gained during our careers in catering and hospitality with the aim of providing a real ‘home from home’ experience for our guests. We have created two very cosy double rooms, each finished to a high standard and individually decorated and furnished to create its own unique character. Both rooms offer stunning views down Loch Ness to the East and up Glen Urquhart to the North. Each room has a double bed made up with a sumptuous double-weight Goose Down duvet and Egyptian cotton bedlinen. Both rooms have full en-suite facilities including a Roll Top bath (Room 1) or Double-ended bath (Room 2), separate Power Showers with rain heads, WC and large hand-basin . The en-suites are complemented by heated towel rails, fresh Egyptian cotton towels and a selection of local hand -made soaps and toiletries. For your additional comfort each room contains:

  • Smart flat screen TV
  • Pod Coffee/Tea making machine with a selection of coffees, herbal teas and fresh milk.
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Bottled Spring water
  • USB charging points.

Breakfast A full breakfast to suit all tastes and appetites is served between (7.30 and 9.00am) in the conservatory which has excellent views on three sides to enjoy Loch Ness, Glen Urquhart and the many birds which visit our garden. In fine weather we are happy to offer breakfast on the patio adjoining the conservatory. We have always believed that a good breakfast is the foundation for a good day and we offer a full range of cooked, continental and vegetarian options. We aim to use only the best locally sourced produce in our meals together with vegetables and herbs from our own garden.
Home from Home In the evening you can relax by the wood burning stove in our comfortable lounge or adjoining conservatory where you can take advantage of the widescreen TV, free Wi-Fi or the many books and games on offer. We have a wide selection of books about the area and maps for those more energetic of you to plan the next day’s walking. Guests are also more than welcome to wander through the extensive grounds and gardens and enjoy the panoramic views of Urquhart Glen and Loch Ness. Just sit and take in the views up the Glen or down Loch Ness and listen to the wildlife. You may be lucky to see the famous Nessie!!. A short walk into the woods and you may well spot one of the many deer or on the surrounding hills a buzzard soaring overhead. There are a number of ‘walk from door’ routes to suit all tastes. Or if you are just too tired after a long day’s sightseeing you can simply sit outside and enjoy the peace and quiet with the many small birds and woodland creatures that visit our garden.
