Arenys de Mar's Port

The Port of Arenys de Mar is among the most important on the Catalan coast and in the Maresme region. It is a clear example of the long history and seafaring tradition of the town of Arenys de Mar. Fishing and all the industry that is created around the port drive a large part of the town's economic activity. The port is home to almost the entire fishing fleet of the region. The fish from the Arenys fish market is prized throughout Catalonia, especially the prawns. In autumn, local restaurateurs and the town council hold a gastronomic event known as the Calamarenys, the main attraction of which is the Arenys squid. © Istock/KarSol
