Casa de Turismo Rural Vale das Hortas

The Casa das Vale das Hortas was once one of the largest weaving centers in the municipality of Alcoutim. According to data we could find in mid-1977, this weaving center was equipped with four Jacquard-type looms, handled only by men and which replaced the previous manual looms, which were used mainly by women. With the evolution of the times, this activity was abandoned having the house vacated, until the beginning of the 1990s. At that time, the recovery of the house for own dwelling was begun. However, such recovery works have not been completed. In the middle of 2007, the recovery of the house was restarted, already under new command, with the purpose of transforming into a cottage for rural tourism. These works were to be completed in April 2008, in the form now known to everyone. The House of Vale das Hortas consists of 6 rooms, all with private bathroom, air conditioning and TV. There are also three common rooms, one of which has a fireplace and bar. The house also has a traditional Algarvian kitchen with the also traditional terrace that serves as a roof, a Muslim influence, called a roof terrace. This tourist resort also has a saltwater pool, private parking and vegetable garden with typical products that, whenever possible, will be served to customers.
