The Ebersbacher Filmtheater - one of the few remaining non-corporate cinemas ready to play - was closed by the previous operator on January 30, 2009. But fortunately it was only a temporary closure, because dedicated interested parties have found themselves, who took over this venue and thus contributed to the preservation of the traditional house. It was the Ebersbacher Film Theater and Cultural Association e. V., which has set itself the goal of developing the house into an attractive cultural center "Bahnhofstrasse".

With the Ebersbacher cinema no event house is to be established, which stands in competition to other houses. It should continue to serve primarily as a film location and cultural offerings on a small scale to create a stage.

For this purpose, the city has Ebersbach (now Ebersbach-Neugersdorf). The building was purchased and extensively renovated with subsidies. In the future, we are constantly striving not only to make the outer shell of the building appealing, but also to fill the entire building with life. The Ebersbacher Film Theater and Cultural Association e. V. financially supports itself and can do without further subsidies.
