The beginning of the Klaipėda Museum is related to the events of 1924, when the Lithuanian and German nationalities of the region founded the Memeler Landesmuseum e.V. in Klaipėda State Museum in 1924. The birthday of the museum is considered the 20th of June, when the general meeting of this society took place. Since 1988 June 17 he is called the History Museum of Lithuania Minor. At present, visitors can get acquainted with archaeological, cartographic, numismatic, ethnographic collections, Klaipėda castle and city masters, and original and rich iconographic and documentary materials that reflect the historical past of the country and the city. 1992 August 5 A branch of the History Museum of Lithuania Minor, the Blacksmith Museum, was opened at the Old Market, Šaltkalvių Street.
