Since 1930, the Folklore Museum or Tournaisian House occupies a typical 17th century building located in an alley adjacent to the main square of Tournai in Belgium.
Scenes from everyday life in the city and in the countryside are reconstructed. The folklore, the atmosphere of a past and yet near time is reflected through a craftsman in full work, a choir of a chapel, carnival disguises or a cabaret.
In the many rooms, which cover a total of more than 1000 m², showcases expose objects revealing the habits and customs of previous centuries. On the first floor, a scale model represents the city of Tournai in 1701.
