Musée de la Tour Abbatiale

The remarkable abbey tower of the seventeenth century historic monument since 1846, recently restored, houses the museum. In the hall on the ground floor, beneath a carved stone arch coiled ribbon motifs, fantastic masks and projecting moldings, a rare beauty, are presented throughout the year, temporary exhibitions. Upstairs the ceramics collections offer a complete panorama of Amandinoise production. Eighteenth earthenware highlight original and refined decor inspired by the Far East, the manufactures of Rouen, Strasbourg, northern France or Tournai. Witness a real concern "industrial art" those from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries manufactures show the evolution of technology. The central hall, under a vaulted arches of 22m high, hosts works related to the history of the abbey (two tables eighteenth placed on deposit by the Museum of Fine Arts in Valenciennes, portraits of abbots including one from the museum of Fine Arts in Lille, a Madonna and child of the sixteenth century alabaster school Conrad Meit). Sculptures and religious paintings from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century the Low Countries South enrich this presentation (Walter Pompe, Laurent Delvaux, Abraham van der Schoor, J.
