From 1919 the Real Club Bellini of Catania constituted a Committee chaired by Di Stefano Giuffrida and then by F. Anastasi, who collected funds to merge them with those obtained through the signing promoted by the "Tribuna" of Rome.

Among the first underwriters were the King, Mussolini and all the highest personalities of politics, art and literature. The Decree of November 23, 1923 declared the Bellini house as a National Monument. Difficult practices delayed the implementation of the Museum, until the interest of Antonino Grimaldi determined, with the assignment to Benedetto Condorelli, the constitution.

The Belliniano Museum was inaugurated on May 5, 1930 in the presence of Vittorio Emanuele III. The birthplace of Vincenzo Bellini, which has become a museum, is part of the adjacent palace of the Gravina Cruyllas, originally built on the ruins of the ancient Odéon and the Greek Theater.

From 1950 to 27 July 1968 the Museum was directed by Francesco Pastura, author of Bellini's Bellini monograph according to history (Guanda, Parma 1959).
