Museo Comunale Peppetto Pau - Nurachi

The media ethnographic museum of the city of Nurachi (OR) is located in a former manor house nurachese with the service rooms and the rustic courtyard, all enclosed by adobe walls ( "ladrini"). Inside the walls of the house, also made of mud-brick, they are embellished with jambs and lintels of carved stone doors and windows. The covers are trellis ( "cannizzada") resting on un'orditura of beams and chestnut beams. The courtyard behind the court, which served as a vegetable garden, now restored, is currently used as a performance area. The exhibition is divided into four themed rooms: • Room of dioramas (entrance hall), which reproduces the typical natural environment of adjacent wetlands at the pond of Cabras, with the reconstruction of flora and fauna of the area; • Room of raw land, dedicated to the traditional architecture of the country based on the bricks in raw land ( '' On ladrini '') made from a mixture of mud and straw; • the music room, media room dedicated to launeddas, traditional instrument in the Campidano reeds; • supply room, multimedia room dedicated to traditional foods. The Music Room is home to the installation '' On cannaxiu '' ( '' The reed ''), which through a stage of full and empty spaces is the raw material with which launeddas are built. Through proper lighting, the installation is projected on all four walls of the room surrounding the spectator as, metaphorically, Polyphonic Sound launeddas envelops the listener. Reeds emerge from the touch-screen monitor, stereo headphones and trackball devices that let you navigate the multimedia application containing text, photographs, filmed and audio related to the musical instrument. The visitor is further involved in educational level tuning and virtually playing launeddas through an interactive application. These infopoints count a total of: • 45 minutes of footage; • 35 minutes of audio recordings; • 100 high-resolution photos; • 25 pages of text to 800 characters. The supply room hosting the installation '' Sa mesa '' ( '' The table ''): a table and chests laid with dishes on the bottom of slide film on the preparation of traditional foods and the social contexts associated with them , building the metaphor of eating of images. The effect was achieved by making the dishes without resting on the bottom of the table, in which are embedded LCD monitors and DVD players. The museum, located in Via Dante, is dedicated to the memory of Peppetto Pau, a leading figure of twentieth-century Sardinian culture. Born in Oristano in 1915 and died in 1989, Pau was illustrious poet, writer, scholar of art and archeology, and historical passionate about his city.
