Museo Etnografico di Ossi

The museum The Municipal Museum of Ethnography in Ossi was born in 2007 in order to preserve the memory of a world and a culture in rapid extinction, with patience and passion by collecting tools and instruments which once served on the fields, in the workshops and in the homes. The main aim of this institution is to: preserve the testimony of these objects and the slow, almost static, changing that has characterized rural technologies in which the farmer's work has long been anchored to the natural rhythms of the time, nature and of custom. The inevitable rural modernization has wiped out almost all the old manual trades but left us the material signs of this culture that the museum has tried to recover. The old Baron's Palace, seat of the Museum is perfectly suited for this purpose, providing the ideal setting to the exhibition that unfolds on three floors. The ground floor and the first floor of this structure, are dedicated to the ethnographic section with eight themed rooms, furnished as reconstructions of environments. The second floor houses the archaeological section - teaching: with panels and plastic Epoch prenuragic dedicated specifically to the many cemeteries in the area.  This is not just a collection conceived statically but we like to consider it a capital fund in the pipeline, a dynamic educational process that enriches our knowledge and inspires us to creativity and cultural research. This material baggage of knowledge, deserves to be disclosed, especially to children. You can not have a future without knowing where to rest our roots. Why it is worth visiting The Municipal Museum of Ethnography in Ossi, in addition to treating the ethnographic aspect, is an important starting point for guided visits to the many sites in the area. The Baronial Palace houses inside the permanent exhibition called "Places of archeology", curated by Dr. Maria Pina Derudas. Part of this exhibition has been expanded in the archaeological section with plastic depicting the most important domus de Janas of the City of Ossi. Thanks to these insights will be able to get to the sites with pre-established routes and all information necessary for the visit. The Ethnographic Museum of Ossi also provides a wide range of educational and educational workshops aimed at improving the knowledge of popular traditions and territory.
