Museum für Musik

The Museum of Music is located in the historic rooms of the Lohnhof. Only part of a monastery, they were last used until 1995 as a prison. Fortunately, today's visitors to the Museum of Music at the Lohnhof are free to roam through Switzerland's largest collection of musical instruments. The exhibition presents around 650 instruments from five centuries on three floors. The former prison cells serve as showrooms, and thus it is not forgotten who once inhabited the cells a cell is still in its original state. The remaining 24 cells make musical and instrumental history (s) an experience of the senses. Interactive screens allow you to play music samples and sound samples and bring the instruments in their showcases to life. Explore familiar, but also curious ways of making music during your tour.
