The Opera Playful - NPO, born in Genoa in 1956 as "Cultural Center Experimental Lyric Symphony," has in its statutory objectives the promotion of productions by the great historical and cultural interest. The Ente points out immediately the vocation for the discovery and introduction to opera for new voices. In 1975 he was awarded the status of "Moral Authority" and in 1979 began a new course under the leadership of the current president, Dr. Tito Gallacci. The "Opera Playful" takes on a prominent place in the Italian, and not only for its share of the discovery and exploitation of rare works that often sets up for the first time in modern times. Since 1986 the Agency links its name permanently to that of Savona, working in agreement with the City Council. The productions staged at the historic Teatro Comunale G.Chiabrera are regularly circuited from east to west, and the Liguria Region Entity recognizes the qualification of "Regional Interest Cultural Institution" in 1996. In recent years the Opera Playful has entered the ranks of the NPO (non-profit organizations of social utility). The represented repertoire is wider, with the staging of the largest and most demanding works of the great Italian composers and beyond. By the Minister Giuliano Urbani, of 26 November 2003, the Opera Playful is finally recognized "Theatre of Tradition", important qualification required by law # 800 of 1967-the only law applicable to the musical activities in our country - recognized for "demonstrating theaters have given special impetus to local artistic traditions and music" (art.28). Just over twenty theaters in Italy that can boast of this title, the Opera Playful is the only one in Liguria. The Ente Savona then arrives at a point of excellence, a goal in its fifty-year history. Following this appointment, the artistic direction has been entrusted to Maestro Giovanni Di Stefano, formerly Ente music consultant. The cultural and organizational harmony with the City of Savona has allowed, since summer 2004, to organize a season set on fortress Priamàr, Italian monument of great historical and architectural value, "cradle" of the Italian Risorgimento, which hosted in 1830-31 Giuseppe Mazzini, who here conceived the Young Italy.
