Teatro Municipal de Matosinhos Constantino Nery

Inaugurated on June 10, 1905, the Municipal Theater of Matosinhos Constantino Nery was, for several years, the meeting point of the matosinhense community. Decades later, by the 1980s, cultural space went into decay and was practically in ruins.   Conscious of the importance of this space in the memory and in the cultural heritage of our Municipality, in 2001 the Chamber acquired this equipment, and then started the process of recovery with the opening of an international public tender to choose the project.   The winning project was that of Alexandre Alves da Costa, architect and university professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, who presented the general lines of the theater recovery plan in the ruined interior of the building.
