Théâtre Montparnasse & Petit Montparnasse

Built on a site dedicated to the theater since 1817, the current hall was built in 1886.

Led fervently by Gaston Baty, from 1930 to 1943, the Theatre Montparnasse became famous for a bright and varied program, commensurate with the great modern leader that he was. "We will see him in the artwork he hosted, and perhaps it is the best example of modern design director. (...) In 1943, it was the great actress Marguerite Jamois ensuring his succession and chair for some twenty years the destiny of the theater.

Then Lars Schmidt and Jerome Hullot take all the theater management. Under their leadership were discovered in France many Anglo-Saxon authors such as Peter Schaffer, Arnold Wesker, Noël Coward, Harold Pinter, Murray Schisgal, served by the greatest comedians.

When, in 1984, arrived feune Myriam Colombi, it conducts numerous embellishments and the creation of Foyer-Restaurant, while maintaining the commitment to an eclectic and quality. It contributes in particular to the recognition of new French authors Jean-Marie Besset, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Gérald Sibleyras, Antoine Rault, Florian Zeller ... Meanwhile, she is renovating the Petit Montparnasse, which becomes a room of 200 seats dedicated to the discovery of young talents. Since 2006, Bertrand Thamin assure with it the co-leadership of the two rooms.
