Chateau des Estanilles

The domaine:

Château des Estanilles lies between the Mediterranean and the foothills of the Espinouse and Cévennes mountains, in the hamlet of Lenthéric; it is part of the commune of Cabrerolles, one of the seven villages of the Faugères appellation.

Our vines stretch across 35 hectares of hillside, at 300 metres altitude, on some of the best quality soil; the name of the domaine comes from the Estagnols and Fontanilles plots. In summer, the Estanilles vines are easy to recognise; Cordon de Royat-pruned, their orderly trellising allows each leaf to capture the maximum amount of sun, which is then transformed into noble tannins and aromas, stored within each grape.

We have always had an affinity for the organic approach. We have never used weed killer or chemical fertilizers, and we limit intervention in the vineyard and winery to the minimum. We began our conversion to official organic status in 2008, and in 2010 our wines will carry the AB (Agriculture Biologique - Organic Agriculture) label.
