Official page of Palazzo Corsini. The Corsini collection is the only eighteenth-century Roman painting collection to have survived intact to this day. In 1883 the Corsini sold to the Kingdom of Italy the palace via the Lungara and donated the entire group of paintings, bronzes and marbles, which were preserved, with the stipulation to publicize this heritage. The National Gallery of Ancient Art is housed on the first floor of the south wing of Palazzo Corsini. The building was commissioned by the Florentine family following the election to the papacy of Cardinal Lorenzo with the name of Pope Clement XII (1730-1740).

Before Corsini the prestigious house became, from 1659, the residence of Queen Christina of Sweden (1626-1689), who came to Rome in 1655.
