The gallery, opened in the historical centre of Milan, has started its activity with the show of an American artist, Lisi Raskin, in September 2006. The idea is to promote and spread International and Italian artists in Milan, also participating in Start – the network of the main galleries in Milan. The mission of Galleria Riccardo Crespi is to realize projects by young international artists that explore contemporary forms of representation through different media. The majority of the artists represented and whose work is shown at the gallery have never worked in Italy before and are young or mid-career artists who have attracted considerable attention on the international art scene in recent times. Furthermore the gallery encourages and supports collateral projects collaborating with curators, critics and professionals in different subjects (anthropologists, psychologists, historians) to develop other aspects of contemporary culture.
