Located ten kilometers from Strasbourg city headquarters of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament, whose center is entirely classified world heritage site by Unesco, the Golf Wantzenau covers an area bordered by forests near the Rhine.
Designed by Jeremy Pern, renowned English architect, and assisted by Jean Garaïalde, one of the best professionals that the French golf has known, the Golf de La Wantzenau offers 18 varied holes where water is an integral part of the course. A drive space completely open to the public brings together a compact 4 holes, covered driving range, a grass driving range, an area reserved for small game and putting green. In this lush setting of 72 hectares, the clubhouse summarizes in its architecture the remarkable Alsatian heritage and contains within it a restaurant and a pro shop as warm qu'accueillants. Since its inauguration in 1991, the Golf Wantzenau regularly receives high-level competitions. The Tournament of Nations and the Internationaux de France gentlemen, in 1993, the competition brought together 120 of the best European amateurs. In 1994 the Pro Silver, the National Open in 1996, a Challenge Tour in 1998, and in September 2004 the European championships Handigolf. In 2010, the Golf de La Wantzenau has revived the tradition, and welcomed a new Challenge Tour. Competition popular with all players on the circuit, having been voted "best tournament of 2010" on both the quality of its organization than his course. The victory was won by the French amateur Romain WATTEL, which brought on behalf of France the title of amateur world champion team a few weeks later. Since Roman WATTEL turned pro, and remains one of the great French hopes for future years
