Golfclub Hohenstaufen e.V.

The Golfclub Hohenstaufen e.V. was founded in 1959 in Göppingen and the game operation on the 9-hole course within the airfield of the US Army at the Cook Barraks was recorded. Although the German-American golf game has offered many opportunities for friendly encounters and long-lasting connections with the American hosts, the desire for their own space and their own clubhouse sprang up again and again. In the summer of 1971, the firm decision was made to look seriously for their own grounds. Count von Rechberg, our member, gave the first indications of possibilities in the Donzdorf area. The inauguration of its own 9-hole course was on 13 August 1977. At this time, the club had 160 members. A year later, on July 22, 1978, the clubhouse - popularly called the "sheepfold" - could be handed over to its purpose. The putting green was created in 1981. In the general meeting of February 1, 1985, the expansion of the facility was decided by a large majority. It took at least 15 years to fulfill the dream of the club members - to have 18 challenging fairways and a facility that many of us envied and whose location and topography make it one of the most beautiful in Baden-Württemberg. Our golf course is situated on historical ground, in the middle of the homeland of the great dynasty of the Staufer. On 18 golf courses we have documented personalities of the Staufer, historical places and events. With every game you will be fascinated by the "golfing at the Staufer".
