A very special place
In the upper Danube valley, the second largest river in Europe gathers all its strength to force its course in a direction opposite by 180 °. And right here, on the Schlögener Schlinge, this force unfolds its positive effect on the people. Here you can refuel, here you draw new energy from the natural springs of nature.
A very special story
In the autumn of 1837 a Roman gold coin was found near Schlögen - shortly thereafter it was known that the history of our house goes back well before the Middle Ages. From the Romans to the Middle Ages Even the Romans knew about the peculiarity of the "Schlinge" on the Danube. They built here a naval base with the fort "Joviacum" and a garrison town. Roman excavations, which can still be visited directly in front of the hotel, testify to the value of this site for the people whose fate is closely interwoven with the Danube.
From the Middle Ages to modern times
More than 500 years ago, an old rafters inn was already located at our current location. It was a rest stop for those brave craftsmen who were driving huge amounts of tied logs down the stream to the plants. On their exhausting and dangerous journey they stopped here to recharge their batteries for the next exertions - just like all the guests who chose Hotel Donauschlinge since the early 1950s. For as long as the house opens for people who are looking for something special during their vacation or for various occasions.
