In preparation for the millennium celebrations, in 1885, the creation of a Csanád County Museum in Makó emerged. After a long break, in 1943 the museum material was collected in a few rooms, but it was decimated in the war. The Makó Museum was founded in 1950 and covers a total of 16 villages in the Makó district. The following collections were created: ethnographical, in which folk painted furniture, folk costumes, agricultural and household tools, handicrafts, etc. They can be found; the literary, rich József Attila relics; local history; art, the art of the 1920s and the 1970s and 1980s, and the historical facade. In the latter, paintings depicting Mary Terézia, Queen Elizabeth, Ferenc Deák, Lajos Kossuth, subpages and grand dukes can be seen in an independent exhibition. In the library collection, there is a rich ethnographic, literary history (attentive to József Attila) and local newspapers, rich in local publications. The museum also has a photographic, historical and historical documentation collection of natural sciences. The museum used to work in a bourgeois house, but the building was small in order to accommodate the growing collection. The city of Makó has built three museums at one time: in 1979 the literary exhibition was opened - the Espersit House, in 1980 the makói hagymás ház was opened in the National Historical Memorial Park of Ópusztaszer, and in 1981 the new main building of the museum was inaugurated. In the yard of the museum a scotch was set up: a makói hagymásház, a smith-bognar workshop, a carpentry workshop, putri, camels and cereal booths. On the first floor of the main building a permanent exhibition showing the town's history from its re-establishment, from 1699 until the change of regime, until 1989; on the ground floor there are temporary exhibitions. Museum publications can be purchased at the port: the Makói Museum Füzetei has been published since 1952, and the Cultural History of Makó since 1997. In addition, postcards, flyers are available.
