MEtA - Museo Etnografico Alta valseriana

The museum collects testimonies and memorabilia can tell a few centuries of history Seriano country. In 2013 the museum was completely renovated through the proposal of new productions and initiatives designed and educational workshops for schools. The transformation has been sealed by a rejuvenation of the image, an eye-catching logo and the new name of Meta: Ethnographic Museum Alta Valseriana. Sections of the museum are home to objects related to the activities that more than others have characterized the life of workers and families, especially the extraction of mineral resources, exerted from Roman times until the middle of last century. The whole territory of the Seriana Valley is particularly rich in ferrous materials, but also of silver and other metals. These resources, known and used since ancient times, have developed the extraction making it one of the main sources of employment for generations of families the valleys. Tools, environmental reconstructions, objects of everyday life and the maps of the caves make up the content of the most impressive section of the museum, entitled "Mine" and "Miners".

With mining, the textile sector was the real driving force for the economy and development of the Seriana Valley: in the "Weaving and spinning home" visitors can become aware of the difficulties of the old women's work and observe the objects d ' domestic use for the production and processing of wool, hemp and flax. An interesting collection of wood species introduced to the area called "Woodcutters", whose life is remembered by exposure of objects and tools used by workers, but mainly by direct evidence. Next to the museum was set up a "rural house" the fifteenth mold containing numerous reconstructions of domestic life, crafts and agriculture mountain. Ardesio is also remembered for the lime production processes implemented in the ancient lime furnaces, a calcination furnace is exposed at the river park of the Serio, where some panels illustrate the different stages of the procedure and locate the calchere now abandoned.
