Μουσείο Παιδείας / Museum of Education

The Education Museum belongs to the Department of Philosophy, Education and Psychology (Education Sector) University of Athens.   Began to be composed in 1993, while the first season was inaugurated in 2000. Since 2013 it operates daily addressed to schools of Primary and Secondary Education with a permanent exhibition as well as educational programs and activities developed in parallel.

The Museum of Education through exhibits, collections and file of aims:

-in preservation of cultural heritage in the field of Education and Training -in research and study at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the History of Education, Education, Education and Training in the Greek area from antiquity to the present day in connection with the Balkans, Europe and worldwide -in training university graduates in issues of Museum Education -in awareness of the educational community and extracurricular institutions.

The Museum of Education belongs to the Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology of the University of Athens.

The foundation of the Museum started in 1993 and its first lasting exhibition took place in 2000. Since 2013 it is open daily for children of the Primary and Secondary Education with a permanent exhibition and educational programmes and activities taking place concurrently.

Through exhibits, collections and the archive it aims for:

• the preservation of the cultural heritage in the Sector of Education
• the research and undergraduate or postgraduate studies of the History of Education and Pedagogy in the Greek territory from Antiquity to today in relation to the Balkans, Europe and the Globe.
• the qualifying of University graduates concerning Museum Pedagogy
• the promotion of awareness of the educational community and policy authorities.
