The Museum of Mines of Mercury Monte Amiata, located in Garibaldi square in Santa Fiora is designed to reflect the history of the mines and the sacrifices made by the miners, since "in that little world of suffering and injustice of humanity shone a light that it is perhaps the one that we need to build the future. 1st room: a plastic with the location of mining sites on our territory, constitutes the starting point of the museum, together with geological maps of the areas that were formed cinnabar deposits. We can also find in this room a number of lithic artifacts, minerals and measuring instruments.

2nd room: you can understand the historical evolution of Amiatine mines by various masters at different excavation techniques

3rd room: Here are exposed tools and instruments that help the visitor to clearly understand the type of work organization and activities carried out underground. Gallery: even more realistic idea of ​​the work in the mines, comes from a broken underground tunnel built by miners, with which you truthfully recreates the working environment.

4th room: going up to the top floor, you can see the customs and uses of mercury over time, but above all shows the serious consequences that the extraction and processing of cinnabar have been the health and life of the miners.

5th room: The museum tour ends by addressing issues related to the closure of mines and the social struggles carried by miners to obtain better working conditions in the first place, but above all to advance an alternative vision of development based on the exploitation of resources, human, environmental and cultural.
