Muzeum Sopotu

The Museum of Sopot was established in 2001. The new facility was established by the Sopot City Council as part of the Centennial of Sopot. A historic villa built in 1903 by Ernst Augustus Clauden, a Gdansk merchant who was subjected to extensive adaptation and maintenance in the autumn of 2001, Within the restoration works realized in 2001-2006, the original state of the building was restored, taking into account new museum functions. Representation rooms on the ground floor of the villa were dedicated to the permanent exhibition of historic interiors, reconstructed on the basis of archival photographic documentation, handed over to the museum in 2001-2003 by the daughter of the first villa owner - Ruth Koch from the house Claaszen. On the first floor in the former bedrooms were located the rooms of variable exhibitions, the attic occupied the offices and offices. In the old basement was designed restaurant premises. The building has a lift for people with disabilities. Renovation works included the revitalization of the extensive garden surrounding the villa and the reconstruction of the historic fence of the property. The Sopot Museum, located a few meters from the beach, in a very attractive tourist belt of the seaside, is one of the places to be visited by the inhabitants of Sopot, the Tri-City and tourists.
