The Pinacoteca di Varallo was formed in 1887 by the joint action the Society of Encouragement to Study of Design and the Society of Conservation of Works of Art and Monuments in Valsesia. The collections were enriched over time thanks to targeted acquisitions and donations, among which we remember that Bartolomeo Avondo, 1909, including an extensive collection of drawings of authors such as Morazzone, Gianoli and Tanzio. The works in the Gallery, from paintings to sculptures, are rooted in reality figurative valsesiana, leaders by a panorama that sweeps from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. By the will of prof. Don Pietro Calderini, passionate naturalist, was created, in 1867, the Museum of Natural History, named after him. The present arrangement provides a breakdown of the objects for scientific themes: a section of Natural History, a section of Paleontology, a section Numismatics, a section of Egyptology. In addition, an interesting library with incunabula, parchments and works of natural history and numismatics round the Museum.
