Restaurante Shibui

The Shibui project was born 15 years ago in Barcelona under the ideal of Japanese restaurant: a place where you could enjoy the best traditional and evolved food of Japan in an exclusive and elegant environment that marries the spirit of Barcelona.   Currently has an extensive menu with ingredients of excellent quality and premium cocktails made from sake.

The interior design of the premises is in charge of the prestigious designer Susana Ocaña, who adapted the essence of Japanese culture to an environment that fled from the Eastern clichés. Thus, Shibui Barcelona breathes a cosmopolitan atmosphere, although the use of some materials or the recreation of the Japanese garden of the tatami plant brings us the memory of the Japanese country.

After the endorsement of Barcelona came the project to open a new Shibui, in the center of Bilbao. This place has also been decorated by Susana Ocaña, who has sought to preserve the essence of the classic Japanese spirit, with a European look through the use of traditional materials, such as wicker, ropes and wood. The architect Josep Bruguera, from the PEI Cobb Freed & Partners studio, collaborated in the design of the interior structure, made with natural materials. The restaurant has a spectacular lighting based on "leds" that reinterpret the decoration according to the hours of the day, turning the Shibui into a theater of light and shadow in the tradition of kabuki.

Shibui is, therefore, much more than a place to go for lunch or dinner with a partner or with friends. Its premises also offer a reserved area for group meals and / or companies, specially designed for private meetings with a capacity of up to 25 people in Barcelona and 45 in Bilbao. These areas have tasting menus, different from the general menu and with a special service that makes the visit a unique experience.
