Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně

The golf course in Mariánské Lázně was inaugurated on 21 August 1905 by his Majesty Edward VII., King of Britain. After cutting off the inaugural tape, the king signed the gold pen in his memorial book and at the same time became the first founding member of the club. The Marianske Lazne Golf Club is the only one in Central Europe that boasts such a remarkable past. King Edward VII. he loved Mariánské Lázně and visited the course a total of ten times, the last time in 1909.

Also renowned General Patton, Commander of the First Army of the United States, had to look personally on the field for officers of his own staff who, in 1945, despite the continuing war situation in the immediate vicinity, resisted the temptation to play golf in Marianske Lazne.

After years of stagnation, when in the socialist era of golf in Marienbad with difficulty survived, 1989 brought a rapid rebirth. The course itself came again to the members of the club itself. The historic clubhouse has undergone extensive renovation, respecting all original romantic architectural features.

The presence of the Czech Prime Minister at the first of the professional tournaments only contributed to the rapidly rejuvenating prestige of the club, as well as the numerous visits of other prominent personalities. The club became the scene of the world's most amateur competition - the European Team Amateur Championship, and the historic tour of the Volvo Tour - also for the first time in the post-communist world.

The undisputed culmination of the club's history is the acquisition of the Royal Golf Club's generous decision by the British Queen Elizabeth II. in 2003 and the subsequent visit of His Royal Highness to Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.
