The Peter Ulrich House in Pirna - Germany's oldest master builder's house

The lovingly restored corner house on Pirnaer Markt impresses both by its late Gothic style and its varied history of construction. The guided tours acquaint you with the life and work of a great master builder of late Gothic: Peter Ulrich was a master builder in the service of the Duke of Saxony. He came to Pirna in 1502 to build St. Mary's Church here, an important Saxon example of German late gothic of European rank. Ulrich settled in Pirna and built himself here on the market the prestigious home of a wealthy citizen. Thus, between 1505 and 1508, a late-Gothic building of the highest quality was built.
