In our Anatomy Department, preparation activities of anatomical specimens for training and display purposes; It started in 1933 with the establishment of the Chair of Anatomy in the Institute of Higher Agriculture. Over the course of the past 80 years, hundreds of specimens have been collected in the field of veterinary anatomy by spending a lot of time and effort, but a large part of it has become unusable because it will preserve them and a system to exhibit will not be fully established.

Anatomy Anabilim Dalı; has taken the decision to establish a museum built in 2009 in order to prevent the destruction of these historical and scientific examples. Prof.Dr. Merih HAZIROĞLU; for the planning of the establishment of the museum and for the carrying out of the activities afterwards. Okan commissioned OCT. In the framework of the creation of the infrastructure of the museum, relevant academic staff have been sent abroad to improve their scientific skills on museum and anatomical preparation techniques.

Afterwards, a plastication laboratory was established, which provides the first routine application of the plasticization technique introduced in the "Body Worlds" exhibit, which is a modern anatomical exhibition technique and which brings sound throughout the world. In addition to these, one "Anatomical preparation preparation unit" was also created, in which students undergraduate and graduate students regularly use and produce unique works.

The anatomical examples produced in all these sections constitute the most important infrastructure for enriching the museum inventory. In the preparation of the museum, not only the support of the University and the Faculty Administration but also the contributions of the personnel working in the various units of our faculty, but also in the workshops, played a big part in the dedication of the academic - administrative staff of our department.

Our Museums; The fact that the Anatomy Department was opened in the 80th year is a distinctive feature. The Veterinary Anatomy Museum does not aim to be a learning center for undergraduate students only. It also aims to create a scientific reference center for masters and researchers and, more importantly, an interesting and educational living museum space for all community members, especially children. For this reason, in addition to the anatomical correctness of the samples exhibited, attention has also been given to the fact that they are aesthetic and interesting preparations.

Ankara Veterinary Anatomy Museum basically consists of 5 exhibition halls. These departments are designed for the anatomy study of Veterinary Faculty students. But besides this, attention has been paid to the aesthetics and clarity that any person visiting can easily understand. Bone, joint and muscle specimens are shown, followed by digestive, respiratory, excretory, reproductive and nervous system preparations. In addition to these, there are examples of stuffed animals from my country and various interesting designs.

There are more than 350 works on the museum inventory. The oldest of these works belongs to 1933. Therefore, most of them in the museum, for example, have a story based on the past and the historical importance. 92% of the samples in the museum are organic-based, ie the skeleton composed of real tissues or organs, embalming (animal stuffing), play, plastinate and so on. They are preparations. Other than these, Educational materials are also available.

No live animals were used in the process of creating the works in our museum. Examples; necropsy laboratories, experimental animal laboratories, zoo gardens, breeding farms, etc. It was prepared from the cadavers who came from the places controlled.

Every year new and different samples are regularly produced in the museum. It is foreseen that our museum will be a full-capacity training center at the end of the next five years.
