Ancient Gymnasium

The Ancient Gymnasium is a historical complex dating back to the Hellenistic and Roman periods. It encompasses major landmarks, such as the Acropolis, the Hippodrome, the ruins of the temples of Aphrodite and Hercules, and of course, the Nymphaeum, a very elaborate structure dating back to the 3rd century BC. On Vasileos Pavlou Street, which runs south of the port of Kos and goes through the ruins of the ancient Agora, you may find the ruins of the Dionysos Temple. It is located near the Roman House. Marbles of grey and white hues were used in the construction of the temple, which is thought to have been erected sometime in the 2nd century. Archaeological Museum of Kos

In the middle of Kos Town is where you will find the Archaeological Museum of Kos. The findings come from various locations across the island, including the Ancient Agora, the Asklepieion, and others. The antiquities are displayed on two levels of the Archaeological Museum. However, the second level, which houses a large collection of Mycenaean and Geometric-period vessels of Kos, along with many small earthen statuettes, ornaments, and other funeral offerings, is still not open to the public. This level also contains a number of other funeral offerings.
