The Britannia Hotel was a vibrant place in its splendor - a vibrant gathering point for the city's population, always showing the latest news from Europe's trio homes. As the preferred accommodation for prominent guests from home and abroad, the hotel has also had a cosmopolitan spirit over it.   Since its opening in 1870, the hotel has evolved into what we know today: Trondhjems classic five-star hotel, with Palmehaven as its self-centered center.


HISTORY: 1870 Britannia opens the doors. 1888 The hotel's first brick building, Vestfløyen, is listed. 1895 The listing of the East Wing is commenced. 1897 Corner (Britannia Café) opens on May 17th. 1918 Palmehaven opens, designed by architect Fritz Martin Bachke. 1924 The hotel goes bankrupt and is taken over by Kristoffer N. Stensrud. The hotel will be in the family of Stensruds own until 1985. 1953 Treehouse in Apotekerveita 10 burner. The buildings on Nos. 10 and 12 become overt. 1954 New building in Apotekerveita is completed. 2015 E.C. Dahls Real Estate takes over the ownership of Britannia. Plans for renovation will be added. 2019 Reopening of the hotel.
