Casa Museo Lodovico Pogliaghi

Working on the restoration of the chapels of Sacro Monte di Varese, Pogliaghi remained bewitched by the tranquility and beauty of these places. Beginning in 1885 he decided to buy several adjacent land on which he began building the villa in which he worked hard every day and until the death in 1950. He conceived the house as a laboratory-museum dedicated to retire, study and exhibition of its collections. The building reflects the eclectic tastes of the time and the interest of the owner to all forms of art, with rooms inspired by different architectural styles and an Italian garden dotted with antiques and curios. The villa, donated by Pogliaghi the Holy See in 1937 and now owned by the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, is open to the public for tours and offers a rich program of musical and cultural events
