The Diogenes Theater in Altstätten, founded in 1961, offers the highlights of the German-speaking cabaret scene from August to May. Established artists also find their place on the Diogenes stage, as well as niche productions and promising novelties.

The Diogenes Theater has 120 seats and is organized as an association with around 350 members. Nine Executive Board members provide strategic and operational leadership, stand at the bar, sell tickets, package shipping programs, and mix light and sound. All this happens in voluntary work; the reward is the thrilling theater evenings.

Unique is the Diogenes garden: a haunted park, in which a garden stage is built in the summer months. Even own productions have been designed for the garden. In the long Diogenes history own cabaret pieces, theaters, choir concerts of a special kind and puppet plays were worked out and performed. The promotion of regional theater production is enshrined in the statutes as the purpose of the association.

In the spring, when the program ends, the Diogenes stage is played by external theater groups (children, adolescents, schools). For the younger generation, the Diogenes Theater offers a Christmas piece at Christmas and school classes closed in the fall for classes from all over the Rhine Valley. Children who actively participate and want to be on stage themselves can take part in one of the holiday courses (theater, circus).
