Kaunas District Museum was founded by merging three museums in Kaunas district:
Juozas Naujalis Memorial Museum with a branch in Biliūnų village, Antanas and Jonas Juškis Ethnic Culture Museum in Vilkija and the Museum of Babtų Landscape. The new museum creates close links with the past and present, collects, analyzes and displays collections of museum values reflecting the history of Kaunas region's cultural history.
The museum's main activities are in the following directions:
- Raudondvaris manor palace-palace - the life, art and social activities of the Patriarch of Lithuania Juozas Naujalis (1869-1934), traveling photographs, archeological finds and contemporary art by Count Benedikt Henryk Tyszkiewicz.
