Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow MOCAK (with English. Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow) is the largest institutional investment in culture made by the City of Kraków after 1989 and the first of its kind built in Poland after World War II, a few years ahead of the emergence of similar museums Warsaw and Wroclaw. The project of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow dates back to 1983, when he was first correspondence with the local authorities on the establishment of the facility. Konrad Kucza-Kuczynski settled the contest for the design of the museum building, selecting works of Claudio Nardi and Leonardo Maria Proliego. The project prepared by the studio of Claudio Nardi Architette assumed rise in the former Schindler Factory one new building and adapting existing six. Construction work began in December 2009, November 16, 2010 took place the dedication of the building MOCAK.


The Museum conducts extensive activities popularizing and teaching activities addressed to social groups with different cultural competence. The aim of the facility is, among other things removing prejudices against modern art. Another mainstay of the museum is research. Thanks of collected archives, collection and library MOCAK creates space science and friendly people all interested in deepening reflection on art.


The program of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow MOCAK, Which has been active since 1st February 2010, encompasses presentation of the latest international art, education as well as research and publication projects.
