Musée d'Histoire de Saint-Malo

The Museum of History is located in the castle (keep / tower general) at the entrance to the historic city. His current presentations evoke the great figures of Saint-Malo, heritage and traditions of his country, focusing in particular on the maritime history: the art of navigation, shipbuilding and port, fishing cod on the banks of Newfoundland, exploration and trade routes around the world, the race war and famous maritime careers.

Solidor tower in Saint-Servan is the setting for a museum sequence evoking the history of commercial navigation through the Cape Horn since its discovery until the end of the tall ships in the first quarter of the 20th century. The presentation consists mainly of portraits and models of ships, nautical instruments and makes memory of call memories to former captains Cape Horners who founded an international friendly in Saint-Malo and helped with their donations and their stories to highlight this aspect unknown and original maritime culture.

The institution, labeled "Museum of France" keeps about 10 000 properties forming its collections of archeology, ethnology, science and technology, graphic and decorative arts, prints and manuscripts, photography and numismatics.
