Museo Civico di Sinnai

The museum is located in the historic center of Sinnai, in a building that is a symbol of the past for the memory of the community: the building in Via Colletta dates back, in fact, in his first plant, to the nineteenth century and was the place of storage and distribution of ecclesiastical collection, later used as a barracks of Cavalry of Sardinia and, finally, at the local station of the Carabinieri Corps. Because of its significance seemed a particularly good forum, after completion of the renovation and modification work, to accommodate the two sections - the archaeological collection and art gallery - which make up the patrimony of the museum.

The archaeological collection includes finds from the territory of Sinnai during different excavations and census, for a chronological arc from the recent Neolithic period (about 3500 BC) and arrives early Middle Ages (seventh to eighth century AD) .

The exhibition was conceived with the idea that the artifacts on display have a value that goes far beyond the object itself: actually represent keys to read the territory and the landscape in all its historical, archaeological, artistic, ethno-anthropological, environmental and landscape.

For this reason the tour route is accompanied by educational panels that allow visitors to contextualize within the territory of archaeological exhibits; this route is also accessible to an audience of disabled people - blind and visually impaired - by a plastic carpet with different relief motifs, indicates the salient points of exposure and Braille information panels accompanied by relief images produced and with particular colors. The museum is also equipped with an interactive media that allows you to customize the tour route and deepen the content exposure.

The art gallery has recently been enriched by the acquisition of almost complete production of paintings and sculptures by the artist Franco D'Aspro, of considerable importance in the national and international artists from the first half of the twentieth century until the mid-eighties, which it was dedicated a large exhibition area. The art collection consists also of Perra Fund - a collective of various valuable paintings that date back to a period between the seventeenth and twentieth centuries - and a picture gallery with paintings, drawings and prints Sardinian artists of the twentieth century.

The cultural mission of the civic museum is also entrusted to the many initiatives that the institution organizes and hosts in the multipurpose spaces available to and become, therefore, a privileged meeting place for the community and we are temporary exhibitions, we organize presentations of works by Sardinian authors, debates and conferences, they are realized musical concerts and theatrical performances - has proven collaboration with the civic Theatre - and encourage cross-cultural comparisons. The museum also offers workshops for all who are funny moments and socialization and are, above all, an important opportunity for discussion and exchange between different generations on traditional themes. All teaching takes place in classrooms equipped with multimedia computer equipment and interactive and rely on an experienced staff support.
