The collection of the municipal art gallery "Antonio Ortiz Echagüe" consists of about a hundred works ranging from the early years of the last century until 2009. His birth is logically connected to important events of the early twentieth century, when they came to Atzara Spanish costumbristi painters, fascinated by the aspects of traditional local culture. Atzara, lively and intelligent, thus became the processing center of a native pictorial language of Iberian inspiration, as well as the crossroads required for the formation of important artists who stayed there more or less long: Antonio Ballero, Giuseppe Biasi, Filippo Figari, Mario Delitala, Carmelo Floris, Stanis Dessy, to name only the best known, whose works are part of the rich display. There are also works by Antonio Ortiz Echagüe, Antonio Corriga, Vittorio Tolu, Bernardino Palazzi, Pietro Antonio Manca, Mauro Manca, Gino Frogheri, Antonio Atza, Gavino Tilocca and many others. Both stylistically and thematically, they offer a comprehensive overview of the artistic trends of the twentieth century. Being a very diverse collection, not being homogeneous and without a specific theme was chosen an exhibition policy that values ​​the works in their diversity. In the ground floor room the works of Spanish artists have been placed and islanders in the early twentieth century stayed for short periods in the town of Atzara The second room is a collection of works classified on a temporal basis, given the heterogeneity of the collection consists of many different artists to style, training and production period. The visitor proposes a path that starts with some works from the first half of the twentieth century and then continue in a time excursus in which one another the names of some leading figures of the last century. Topics covered in the works are different, in fact, we find the traditional themes but also landscapes treated according expressionistic tendencies. Variety of styles, therefore, the historical periods, but always great artistic personalities that marked the art history of the Island. Since August 2009, following the important work of removing architectural barriers, access to the museum it is also easier for people with disabilities.
