Everyone knows that the country Masullas, since the Judicial period, has enjoyed high esteem and prestige in the religious sphere (for a long time in the maps of the vast territory was designated as Masullas AREA SANCTA); This role had a close relationship with the presence, in the following centuries, a bourgeoisie, landowners and / or noble landowners (Flores d'Arcais, Cony, Diana), whose substantial assets, combined with special qualities of resourcefulness, allowed the our country to emerge also in terms social / administrative relative to the entire surrounding area. Masullas became the seat of the curia and militia barons, as well as in prisons, and then the ordinary residence of the lieutenant and the district judge. In 1743, also in Masullas it has been instituted the stage of Lodgement, important body with functions corresponding to the days of our Registry Offices, confirming the strong economic and political role that the country still clothed in that period. The value and relevance of these institutions had further encouraged the settlement Masullas of important new noble families (Sepulveda, Senis, Paderi, Salis, Dedoni, Massidda). To raise awareness and promote this historical heritage and identity, the town council has promoted the creation of a museum dedicated to the rural nobility and called precisely, The Knights of the hills, which represents a unique nationally.
