The Univali Oceanographic Museum (MOVI) is one of the four main collections of natural history in Brazil, with oceanography being the largest in Latin America.
The MOVI aims to:
- develop reference collections representing the largest number of marine species (shells, sharks, rays, turtles, mammals, birds, fish and invertebrates);
- enable taxonomic and biogeographic research that seeks to represent the whole of the biodiversity of the Brazilian coast;
- Disclose and expose the characteristics of our marine biological heritage to education and to the public.
We have been part of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), since 1994, and are registered with the Brazilian Institute of Museums (IBRAM).
