The Museum of Cars, the collection of Bratislava Petković, is the youngest in a number of technical museums in Serbia. The founders of the Museum are the Assembly of the City of Belgrade and Bratislav Petković, a collector from Belgrade, the owner of a collection of historically important cars and archival material about the development of automotive in us.

The headquarters of the Museum is in a building called Modern Garage declared a cultural asset and is a characteristic monument of the technical culture of the time in which it was created. It was built in 1929 as the first public garage in the city center, according to the plans of the Russian architect Valery Stashevsky. It also included the cars of the participants of the first Belgrade international motorcycle and motorcycle race, held on September 3, 1939.

By converting the Modern Garage into the Car Museum, one of the basic principles of the protection of cultural monuments is met: use the monument only for purposes close to the original purpose. In this way, an ideal whole has developed which has its own cultural-technical messages and historical value. The collection contains old and rare cars, which are historical testimony and have a special significance to learn about the application of scientific achievements, development and technical progress of automotive in our country and in the world. The collection contains fifty vehicles, of which the oldest Maro Gardon from 1897. The subject of protection is also devices, devices, scientific and professional literature, driving licenses, first traffic regulations and laws, license plates, tools, film and photographic records, works of art and works of applied art that contribute to the study of the history of automotive.

Desiring to be more than a collection of historical cars, because the car is an invention that contains all inventions of humanity - from those of the earliest, such as fire or wheel, to the most advanced ones, which contain microprocessors - the museum organizes recording educational shows and films, lectures, scenic events and other suitable forms of cultural and educational activity in order to popularize the history of automotive. It has become a gathering place for legends of automotive, lover and museum car collectors. Communication with the audience is also realized with the chamber theater performance "Gran Pri", which is built on strictly documentary material, and speaks of the famous Gran Pri Race held on September 3, 1939, on the track around Kalemegdan.

In order to improve its activities, the Museum cooperates with the institutions of science and education. The museum provides conditions for the work of the Society of Friends and Associates of the Museum and supports the establishment of branches outside its headquarters. It also provides expert assistance to owners and users of museum cars and gives instructions for their keeping and maintenance.

The Automobile Museum, Bratislav Petkovic Collection, is the latest in a series of technical museums in Serbia. The Museum was founded by the Assembly of the City of Belgrade and Bratislav Petkovic, the collector and owner of a collection of historically valuable vehicles and archive material on the domestic history of motoring.

The Museum's premises are located in the modern garage, a characteristic monument of the technical culture of its age, itself declared a cultural asset. The building, designed by the Russian architect Valery Stasevski, was built in the city center in 1929 as the first public garage. It housed the cars of the participants in the first international car and motorcycle race ever held in Belgrade, on September 3, 1939.

By transforming the Modern Garage into the Automobile Museum, one of the most important principles of cultural heritage protection was satisfied: to use a monument only for a purpose close to the original one. Thus, the ideal was totally created, bearing cultural, technical and historical relevance. The Collection contains old and rare cars, valuable both in terms of historical evidence and for better understanding of the application of scientific achievements, the development and technical progress of motoring in the country and abroad. Besides the fifty vehicles, the oldest being a 1897 Marot Gardon, the Collection protects various devices, technical and scientific literature, driving licenses, first traffic regulations and laws, number-plates, tools, filmed and photographic records, works of art and objects of applied art, contributing to our knowledge of the history of motoring.

In its endeavor to be more than just a collection of cars, the car is an invention incorporating all the inventions of mankind - from the earliest, such as fire or wheel, to the latest, based on micro-processors - the Museum has set up educational program, including broadcasts, films, lectures, theatrical performances, and other forms of cultural and educational activities aimed at promoting the history of motoring. It has become a meeting place for legendary riders, museum car collectors and lovers. It also organizes shows and races of museum cars. The communication with the public is also performed through the theatrical play "Grand Prix", strictly based on documentary material and speaking about the famous Grand Prix race round Kalemegdan on September 3, 1939.

In order to improve its activities, the Museum cooperates with a number of scientific and educational institutions. The Museum provides conditions for the work of a museum of friends and collaborators, and fosters the foundation of similar groups beyond its own seat. It also provides technical support and instructions for the maintenance and maintenance of museum cars to the owners and users.
