This church was built towards the end of the 15th century. However, it was damaged by the 1755 earthquake; therefore, it had to be rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries. The gothic hallway with golden capital and a gargoyle is the only remains of the original building. On the inside, it is worth looking at the 17th-century tiles, marble images such as the one of São Pedro (16th century), and different marble crucified sculptures and lignum vitae (guayacan).© iStock / Kositskaya Olga
