Whenever foreigners talk about Portugal, immediately its amazing beaches come to mind. The country is bathed by the sea from the west and south, offering a variety of of sandstrips and atmospheres. And no other region is as synonymous with the portuguese summer as Algarve!
The reason is simple: crystal-clear, pool-like waters, beautiful cliffs and islets, long sandstrips as far as the eye can see, the Algarve coastline has it all. But all is not just crowded beaches and postcard favourites! There are many hidden spots and tranquil refuges to be found aswell, some easy to get to, others requiring a bit more courage to get to the sand. Either way, you will always find something to your taste!

Above is Praia do Camilo, one of the favourites of the parish of Lagos. Locals and tourists flock here to enjoy the sun, the clear waters and the incredible scenery. But the parish extends over a long area, and this is just one of all the amazing beaches in Lagos!
Located in the Portimão area, Joao de Arens is a truly idylic spot you cannot miss. It has the perfect balance of an accessible beach and an untouched scenery. If crowded beaches are not your thing, you don't mind naturists and you are looking for breathtaking sights of the coast, look no further! But while you're at it, the beaches of Portimão have a lot more to offer!
Praia do Carvoeiro sits in the shoreline of the lovely village of Carvoeiro, in Lagoa. Besides enjoying the sand and the sea, here you can even rent a boat and go on a tour around the many other marvels of this part of the coast : impressive cliffs, natural arches, hidden beaches and marine caves! This is a parish with an impressive list of spots. It is only hard to choose the best Lagoa beach!
