Another day, another opportunity to dream about going to the beach! If that sounds like you, then this encyclopedia is exactly what you need. Each entry on this series offers a close look at the marvelous beaches along each parish of the southern and summer-favourite region of Portugal: Algarve! This one will continue along the huge area of Lagoa, with the third list of beaches you can discover if you visit.

This is perhaps the area of the Lagoa coastline that provides the most dazzling sights. The sandstrips here are less enclosed than the ones to the east, and adding to the cliffs and coves, there are now natural arches and big islets to ornament the summer scenery. And the clear-green waters are always a sight to admire on their own! Here are the sandstrips, with a closer look at the best ones!

Praia da Marinha

The beautiful Praia da Marinha offers more than a simple summer sandstrip. The shoreline here is filled with rock formations and islets that offer great sights and are a treat for those who enjoy snorkeling. It just offers all the best of the Algarve coast: sand, sea and sights, and that makes it a very popular choice!

Praia da Malhada do Baraço

The unsupervised Malhada do Baraço beach hides a few treats! You will find a big sandstrip and some rocks that add to the wilderness of the place, a very enjoyable and protected area. It is a small wonder of a sandstrip, only accessible by sea, but don't let that stop you. Even if you're simply passing by the coastal trails you will enjoy the place!

Praia de Albandeira

This small but warming sandstrip is Praia da Albandeira, a lovely natural refuge that is an alternative for the bigger, more populated beaches of the area. A rock sitting in the middle of the sand divides it in two smaller pockets where you can enjoy more privacy. The waters are great, and if you are up to a little exploring, there is a small cave nearby.

Praia Nova

The long and wide Praia Nova is located west of the Nossa Senhora da Rocha chapel, in an unsurveilled area that is nevertheless very worth passing by! There is a lot of space in the sand area, the waters are very calm due to the nearby cliff points, and the sights of the location are great. This is a fantastic option if you're looking for a bigger kind of sandstrip arund this area.

That is it for now, but Lagoa offers a few last great spots and you can always explore the rest of the Algarve coast! If these are not enough for the beach lover in you, take a look at some other entries in the series: the western beaches of Lagoa, the eastern beaches of Lagoa and Silves, or the Faro and Olhão marvels!

Enjoy your visit along the coast of southern Portugal with the help of this encyclopedia on the great beaches of Algarve, and don't forget to take your time to really appreciate the things you see!
